House Vote
Y = Yes   N = No
O = Not Voting or Not In Office

Voting 244 for and 181 against, the House on June 27, 2007, affirmed an approximately 2.7 percent congressional pay raise scheduled for January 2008, which increased rank-and-file House and Senate salaries from $165,200 to nearly $170,000. The vote occurred without debate during consideration of HR 2829. Senators had yet to vote on their pay raise.

Doris Matsui, D-Calif., said "Democrats kept their promise" not to raise congressional pay until after Congress had raised the minimum wage.

Jim Matheson, D-Utah, called for self-sacrifice in Congress at a time when "we are fighting terrorism on so many fronts, our economy faces some challenges, and our future budget deficits continue to be projected at great levels."

A yes vote was to raise congressional pay.
